Description
The bedroom for rent:
It is 13' x 9,' furnished with a queen-sized Saatva luxury firm mattress and a bedframe. The closet is very roomy and there is also a large dresser for extra storage. Large south-facing windows let in lots of light.
The apartment:
It is a large 2-bedroom/2bathroom unit. I occupy the master bedroom with the en-suite bathroom. You will have the second bedroom and will share your bathroom with an occasional Airbnb guest. This guest will occupy a closed-off section of the large living room that has been converted into a bedroom. The common areas are the living/dining room and kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, and toaster oven. I have all the eating, cooking, and food prep utensils you'll need. In addition, there is an in-unit washer/dryer.
The building:
It is a 9 year-old condominium building and mostly owner-occupied. The apartment is situated at the back of the building, set apart from the street by about 50 feet, so you won't hear street traffic at all. You'll get a good night's rest. The unit is on the 5th floor and accessible by elevator.
The neighborhood:
The #2 and #5 trains are 3.5 blocks away or a 6-minute walk. It takes 10-12 minutes to get to Atlantic Terminal and 30-35 minutes to Union Square. The neighborhood has a strong Caribbean vibe. There are many food and shopping options within 1-2 blocks. I have lived here for 7 years and find it quite safe.
Who I'm looking for:
I'd prefer a professional like myself, but a student is welcome as well, as long as he/she is mature and responsible. Cleanliness is very important to me and I expect my roommate to clean up after himself/herself and abide by a cleaning schedule. In everything else, I am pretty laid back.
The current occupants:
Me: I'm a high school teacher who loves to play tennis, read, listen to jazz music, and bake. I also love to travel.
The occasional Airbnb guest: mostly students and professionals in their 20's-30's who come to NYC for tourism, family visit, or work and need a place to sleep in after a busy day in the city.
Required documents:
2 most recent pay stubs
2 most recent bank statements
2 letters of reference
