Description
Hello apartment hunters,
Our dear roommate had to unexpectedly leave the country and so we're looking for a cooperative, kind, relaxed, responsible, clean person to sublet the rest of the lease, with a flexible start date anytime from now to November 2020. The lease ends August 31, 2021.
The room:
We've got a room with a south-facing window that easily fits a twin size bed and a desk, and separate closet across the hall. The room is unfurnished and is ideal for someone who lives a minimalist lifestyle (though it has a twin sized mattress and frame if you want it, as well as a wardrobe closet).
The location:
The apartment is located in a leafy Clinton Hill neighborhood, on a quiet tree-lined street (and the room advertised here does not face the street, so it's extra quiet). It's about a 10 minute walk to the Clinton-Washington Avenue G train stop. It's about a 3 minute walk to several different bus stops that take you to downtown Brooklyn, and/or the A/C/F trains (Jay/York Street) and the B/Q/R line (DeKalb Ave stop) in about 10 minutes. It's also close to Myrtle Ave, which has tons of grocery stores, laundry facilities, and restaurants, and Fort Greene Park is about a 10 minute walk which has a Farmer's Market on Saturdays.
The roommates:
We're relaxed, friendly working professionals (a male structural engineer, a female software engineer in training) in our late 20s and early 30s who like to live in a peaceful home. You can find us spending our free time either reading, or studying French. We're peacefully quiet people who greet each other in the hallway and respect each other's space, and comfortable with communicating issues collaboratively in person. We are also mindful of practicing regular hand washing when returning home, mask wearing outside the apartment, and social distancing guidelines to protect ourselves and each other from COVID-19 and would expect our future roommate to do so too.
We're looking for:
* Cooperative, peaceful, and kind personality
*Someone who is responsible about washing their hands regularly at home upon returning, and follows guidelines to protect themselves from COVID19 outside of the home (social distancing, wearing masks, reducing exposure).
* Non-smoker of any kind. This is a drug-free apartment.
* Employed professional who works regular hours. If you are working from home, you are mindful of how much noise you make, and how your presence will impact others who are also working or studying at home.
* Cleans up after themselves regularly (eg. keeps the kitchen sink free of dirty dishes. We do not leave dishes to "soak")
* Willing to participate in a bathroom cleaning schedule
* Non partyer and non party-hoster. Keeps social life outside of the apartment. Our apartment is a peaceful place to rest after a hard day's work.
* No pets
* No couples
The rent is $844 per month and utilities + internet run about $55 per person per month and we pitch in for any household items as well (~$20/month for toilet paper, etc). We will require a security deposit of one month's rent as well.
If this sounds like a good fit, please include in your message:
- Name and profession, general work schedule Mon-Fri
- link to your LinkedIn profile
- Age
- Phone Number so that we can set up an initial phone chat to see if we're a good fit
- A little about your lifestyle at home (frequency of kitchen use and habits), and what you like to do for fun
Happy hunting!
