Apt share: Entire 3br/2ba duplex with backyard!

Hi there!

I am an artist / lecturer looking for a roommate or couple to share an entire duplex apt! To keep the household small and spacious during COVID and an increase in working from home, I'm looking for the right person(s) who would enjoy making this place their home.

The apt occupies the ground floor and basement level of a classic brownstone (4 other units, friendly neighbors) on a residential street between Nostrand and New York Ave. I have lived here over 6.5 years and have a good relationship with the landlord who has kept rent stable.

It's a 7-minute walk from the A/C express train at Nostrand, a 5-minute walk from the L. I. R. R., and a 10-minute walk from the President Street 2/5 and Nostrand 3 stops.

Layout upstairs: living room with entertainment setup, shared office with access to backyard, indoor bike rack, the available bedroom, detached bathroom with shower/bath which would be your primary bathroom. 2nd bedroom. The outdoor space has been wonderful for cook-outs, socially distanced hangs, yoga, and even movie nights!

The available bedroom is furnished with a queen-sized bed, floor lamp, curtains, and dresser. Small window looking into the alley can fit an a/c unit. Room is 8 x 10 feet plus a deep 3 x 5 ft closet – space approx. 95 sq ft total.

Layout downstairs: 3rd bedroom which will be my work from home space, full kitchen, dining area, 2nd bath, and washer/dryer. Heated floors throughout. Extra pantry and storage space.

About me: Originally from Chicago, have lived in New York for 8 years and am also a permanent resident of New Zealand. I identify as queer (he/they) and overlap with many different communities through the arts, activism, and volunteering. I love to cook various ethnic cuisines and have a pescatarian diet. Love biking, yoga, dancing, and learning languages (German, Korean, ASL).

Open to all types of people. Ideally you have a steady source of income, enjoy socializing, keeping the place clean, and are responsible. Good communication is key as well as anti-racist values and have researched Crown Heights.

Other notes: my partner lives in Maine and visits every month or so for about a week. I also make visits to Maine. We have two cats that will eventually move from Maine to Brooklyn, so discussion about additional pets would be necessary.

Flexible move-in dates starting mid-January to late February. 6 mos - 1 year rental period or longer.

Some utilities included: Heat, water, gas.
Not included: electricity, wifi.

Rent: $1,300/month
- 1 month security deposit required, returned upon move out
- 1st month's rent to move in
