Description
The room is in a two-bedroom apartment in a three-unit private home in the Dyker Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. This apartment occupies the second floor and is very roomy. It gets a lot of light and has plenty of storage. The bedroom for rent is in the rear part of the apartment while mine is in the front with the living room and kitchen in between. There is a large closet in the bedroom, and additional storage can be utilized in the walk-in pantry opposite the kitchen.
The owner and his family live downstairs. They are very friendly and unobtrusive. They may occasionally drop off vegetables grown in their garden. This is a fairly quiet home. The unit upstairs is occupied by an elderly woman, who is also quite friendly and sweet.
The house is about a 5 minute walk to the 79th St. station (D). From there its about a half hour to Atlantic Ave. / Barclays Center, and 45 min. to an hour to most points in Manhattan. Neighborhood is quiet and residential with supermarket and self-service laundry one to two blocks away. Dyker Beach Park is within walking distance and Coney Island is about seven stops past 79th St. Great pizza nearby.
The room would be ideal for students, artists, or writers looking for space to live and work on their craft. Although it seems far from the city, it is actually not that hard to get around.
I am 35-year-old and working on finishing a doctoral degree. I currently work from home with most of my time invested in writing my dissertation. This means that I also tend to spend most of my time in this neighborhood, although I like to think that the shared living space in the apartment has a lived-in, cozy feel to it, and I hope you will feel that way, too! I watch a lot of movies and TV, and it would be great if you did, as well.
The owners will request a background check before drawing up the lease. The rent is $925 per person per month, with an additional $925 as deposit. Unfortunately, this is a 'no pets' lease.
