Description
I am looking to fill a bedroom in my 3 bedroom apartment for a move in date any time between now and July 1st. The apartment is the second floor of a house in a lovely historic neighborhood with Victorian mansions and beautiful gardens. The bathroom is newly gut renovated with bathtub/shower and skylight. The kitchen gets a lot of light throughout the day and has good shelf and cabinet space.
We are a 7 minute walk to the Q (Beverley Road) with 20-25 minutes to Manhattan, a 10 minute walk to the F/G (Church Av) with easy access to the Lower East Side and Williamsburg, and a 15 minute walk to the B at Church Av (express service to the Upper West Side). There are numerous buses in the area, including 4 express buses to Manhattan. The apartment has easy, quick access to downtown Brooklyn via bus or subway.
There is a laundromat next door, and a large supermarket, post office, and library within short walking distance. The neighborhood has Zagat rated restaurants, bars, an organic food market, a farmers market, and coffee shops. We have good Thai, Indian, and Pakistani food nearby, an international grocery with very affordable prices, and one of my favorite taquerias in NYC. We are a 15 minute walk to Prospect Park and the neighborhood around has plenty of sidewalks, greenery, and beautiful flowering plants, great for taking walks and running.
The open bedroom is 10 ft x 11 ft with a walk-in closet (5 ft x 3 ft). It is spacious and gets good light throughout the day, especially in the morning. The room comes with a set of drawers and a very comfortable sofa bed (if you want, if not, this can be moved out).
You will be living with two women in our 40s who are working and in graduate programs. (We are open to all ages.) One of us is getting a PhD and the other an MA. We are both friendly and upbeat people. We both stay busy with work, school, social life, and other activities, but are definitely up for a chat and a hello. The other roommate is part of a theatre and is into studying languages. I enjoy walking around the city, visiting museums and attending events, and trying new restaurants. I am into meditation and like staying active. I would also be up for going for a bite to eat and a drink if roommates would like to. We are both communicative, considerate, responsible, and make sure to keep the space clean. Ideal roommates for the open room would also have these qualities. I value a living space that feels positive and is good to come home to. I am also looking for the same qualities in roommates.
My other roommate has an elderly cat who stays in her room most of the time. Any new roommates should like cats.
The apartment is a good place for working from home during our current situation. It is quiet and the area offers places to get out for a walk while socially distancing. I ask that roommates take precautions and follow regulations regarding COVID-19. Myself and previous roommates have been wearing masks when we go out, wiping down surfaces regularly, and avoiding get-togethers/parties.
Dogs are not allowed. No couples, no smoking.
Requirements: You will be subletting from me, the primary lease holder. Rent is $850 per month, utilities and wifi included. The lease is until the end of November. I am staying on long-term and am happy to extend with good roommates after that period. You will need to show ID and a previous landlord reference. Rent plus one month?s security deposit equal to one month?s rent is required ($1,700) to move in.
I am scheduling video chats before showing the apartment in person because of the current COVID situation. If a virtual showing goes well, we can schedule a time for you to see the apartment in person. If interested, please send an email introduction and tell me a bit about yourself.
