Description

Please come join our peaceful, friendly home. We are two women in our 40s who are working and in grad programs looking to fill a third bedroom. (An elderly cat is the fourth roommate.) The apartment is the second floor of a house. There is no living room, but the kitchen has space to eat in and work. The neighborhood has Victorian mansions, beautiful gardens, plenty of grocery shopping, coffee shops, restaurants, and bars. There are lots of types of cuisines, a very cheap international market, and an organic grocery. We are a 15 minute walk to Prospect Park. We are close to the Q, F/G, and the B lines as well as numerous buses, including express buses to Manhattan.

The open room is small, but previous roommates have set it up so it is cozy and cute. There is space for a twin bed, a small desk, and some shelving. It gets great light throughout the day and has hardwood floors. There is one window, a small closet in the room, and you also have sole use of a very large walk-in closet in the hallway. The landlord is great and has a history of people staying for years at a time. I have had very few issues living here, but the landlord is responsive and gets things fixed right away.

You will be living with two women who are friendly, relaxed people looking for a third roommate who wants a space that feels good to come home to. We are both communicative, considerate, and responsible. While not clean freaks, we make sure to take care of common areas. We both stay pretty busy with work and school. We are also looking for someone who is following Covid guidelines as we are being cautious (wearing masks, handwashing, etc.). I enjoy walking around the city, visiting museums and attending events, and trying new restaurants (pre-pandemic). I am also into meditation and hiking. The other roommate is part of a theater and is into studying languages. I am also looking for the same qualities in roommates.

My other roommate has an elderly cat who stays in her room most of the time. Any new roommates should like cats. The apartment is a good place for working from home during our current situation. It is quiet and the area offers places to get out for a walk while socially distancing. Dogs are not allowed. No couples, no smoking.

Requirements: I am the primary leaseholder and you will be subletting from me. Rent is $675 per month, utilities and wifi included. The lease is 6 months to start. I plan on staying long-term and am happy to extend with good roommates after that period. You will need to show ID and provide a previous landlord reference. Rent plus one month’s security deposit equal to one month’s rent is required ($1,350) to move in.

I am scheduling video chats before showing the apartment in person because of the current COVID situation. If a virtual showing goes well, we can schedule a time for you to see the apartment in person. If interested, please send an email introduction and tell me a bit about yourself.
