I’m looking for a housemate to share the home I just moved into a few months ago. The lease is month-to-month, but a one-year verbal commitment is preferred.

-Dogs are welcome with no additional fee. Small, well-behaved dogs preferred. (There are currently no pets in the home, but I love animals. I just don’t have any of my own.) No cats due to family allergies.

1600 sqft 3bd/2ba with an open layout living room, kitchen, and dining room

The unit gets plenty of light. The front yard offers gardening opportunities. The washer, dryer, and refrigerator are all brand new. The common areas are fully furnished with space available for additional furniture. The kitchen is also fully stocked, but there is plenty of space for your own belongings.

This apartment is the front, street-facing unit in a small 4-unit complex. The property is well-maintained. The bulk of your rent will go directly into property management and improvements to maintain or elevate our living environment.

I want this to feel like your home as much as mine.

PARKING: The home comes with a detached two-car garage and two driveway spots for a total of four parking spaces. You will have half of the garage for your car and/or anything you would like to store in the garage, in addition to the tandem parking spot in the driveway. There is otherwise plenty of street parking.

NEIGHBORHOOD:: This is an extremely quiet residential neighborhood with kind neighbors. The home is walking distance to grocery stores, cafes, restaurants, and stores. The beach and three large public parks are less than a mile a way.

ABOUT ME: 42-year-old professional, outgoing introvert, affable, recently divorced, sex positive, gay, queer AF, cisgender, white guy with strong social justice values. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, psychotherapist, working in the mental health field. I’m both a Peace Corps Veteran and a Navy Veteran. I’ve spent most of career working for non-profits and progressive causes, advocating for marginalized populations. I currently see therapy clients from home for Zoom sessions. I am also attending massage school part-time, so I will be out 16-20 hours per week for classes until 2026. And I travel quite a bit. There will be many weekends and evenings when you will have the entire home to yourself.

When working from home, I use a separate home office in the third bedroom, which also doubles as a guest room. My bedroom has a second separate entrance to and from the exterior side corridor which offers additional privacy.

I live an active life with many hobbies, including dance, rollerblading, Catan, and playing the clarinet—just to name a few. I like to keep a clean and organized home, but I’m not a neat freak. I believe life is a cycle of making messes and cleaning them up. I’m organized but not uptight. I am very responsible, intelligent, mature, direct, and have a playful sense of humor. I grew up in rural PA, attended undergrad at Ohio State, grad school in NY, have traveled extensively, and have lived in many places, but Long Beach is home.

I’ll reach out for a phone screening and then schedule a time to meet in-person and a good time to see the apartment. After meeting in person, if we both decide it’s a good fit, we’ll talk about next steps for a formal application and credit check. The place is ready for move-in whenever you are, but I also don’t want to rush the process. I intend to take my time in finding the person who is the right fit to share my new home.

Upon acceptance of an application and credit check, securing the apartment will require signing a standard lease, first month’s rent, and a $1950 security deposit.
