Description
Big, sunny room in Washington Heights available as lease not sublet, COVID cautious required.
Queen-size Bedroom (12’ x 10’) available in spacious 2-bed apartment in Washington Heights. Rent $1,125/month (Rooms are unequally sized, so I pay $1,500 for a total of $2,625.) Late Twenties Woman seeking very COVID cautious, fully vaccinated and boosted roommate (eating outdoors, masking indoors and testing regularly, ideally working remotely 3+ days/week, group testing ahead of unmasked indoor meetups, isolating after known exposure or positive test, etc.) for a year lease (until March 31, 2025), with potential to stay on beyond that. Cat-friendly.
Apartment: 2 beds, 1 bath, on a quiet block between two commercial streets (including Broadway) in a quieter, slower, tree-lined, community-oriented neighborhood. Third-floor unit; building has 54 units with polite and helpful neighbors. On-site super. Laundry and dishwasher in apartment, elevator in building. High ceilings, overhead lights, tub shower. Kitchen separate room from living room, which can fit 2 couches and a full bookcase, plus a table. Wood floors. Utilities: approx. $40/month total on internet (Spectrum, internet currently discounted) and $100 total on electricity (ConEd, higher due to washer/dryer in-unit). We’ll split utilities evenly.
Room: Unfurnished! Bedroom in corner of building—great for working from home without neighbor noise, though some noise between bedrooms when on meetings. Large closet in the room itself with space in the shared hall closet available. Large bedroom window faces trees, with a view of the WH water tower, with great daytime sunlight! Your bedroom shares a wall with the bathroom. The bedrooms share a wall, but there are 2 closets in between. There’s room for a queen bed, a desk, an additional chair, and more.
Location: The apartment is a 3-minute walk to the C train at 175th Street, and 4-minute walk to the A or C train at 168th Street (40 minutes express to midtown Manhattan at 42nd St-Bryant Park); 7-minute walk to Highbridge Park; 4-minute walk to J. Hood Wright Park, 10-minute commute to Ft. Tryon Park (then walk to the Met Cloisters), 15 minutes to Harlem, 16 minutes to Columbia/Upper West Side. Grocery stores and restaurants abound, 9-minute walk to Target, 12-minute walk to Staples, 3 farmers’ markets weekly during warmer months (one is all-year, in Inwood). Near the Morris-Jumel Mansion, the Academy of Arts and Letters, Hispanic Society & Museum, a couple café/coffee shops, WordUp Bookstore. There can be loud music at night, especially in the summer, but it rarely goes past midnight, and honestly it’s always quality.
Your Roommate, and You!: I (Mollie) am from NJ and spent a few years in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, went to Skidmore College, and am an Associate Editor at Hachette Book Group. I have lived in this apartment for two years (my current roommate makes enough to live solo now). I work from home 4 days/week due to being very COVID cautious and am looking for someone at that same level (eating outdoors, masking indoors and testing regularly, ideally working remotely 3+ days/week, group testing ahead of unmasked indoor meetups, isolating after known exposure or positive test, etc.). A white, cisgender, bisexual, progressive Jewish woman, I'm tidy and organized, love to hang out, chat, cook, knit scarves, practice yoga, explore the neighborhood, go to museums, watch football. I love Yoga with Adriene and the Fast & Furious franchise - I contain multitudes ;)
Women-identifying and non-binary folks preferred. I am looking for a friend in this space, someone who wants to spend time together in the common area, and exploring the neighborhood and city. I look forward to creating a home in community with you!
Rental application + $20 fee, 3 pay stubs, bank statement, 2023 W2. I'm already living here, first + last are already on file with management and I will cover the security deposit increase, so we don't have to figure out how to split all that at any point in the future.
If you bring a cat (I hope you do!), you need to have proof that they're up to date on their shots, but that's it. There's no pet fee. This is a pet friendly building.
