Description

You don't want to miss out on this one! Looking for a roommate to rent a room in a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment that you'll adore. I apologize for the novel here, but wanted to be as specific as possible.

About me:
I am a communications and political consultant working primarily from the apartment but occasionally at the office in NYC.

I'm vegetarian but not at all bothered by meat (and love to cook, so you'll almost always have a vegetarian option for dinner if it sounds appealing!

I do not drink and avoid substance abuse, but am absolutely comfortable around substances and have no problem at all with you drinking, etc.

I love tennis, music, reading, art, entertaining, dinners out, walks to the park, etc. Looking to have a friend come visit? We have one of the nicer queen size air mattresses!

I keep things very fun and love meeting new people and being social, but I do appreciate an early bedtime most nights, often wake up early (but am always respectful and quiet), and I keep the apartment spotless. You can keep your room however you see fit, but I would appreciate the small things like running the vacuum occasionally, wiping down the kitchen counters, helping with trash/recycling, putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher (not the sink), etc. I'm patient and while the space may be cleaner than you care for or slightly messier than I care for, I'm easy to please and trust we'll find a happy medium.

I'm heterosexual, single with occasional guests spending the night.

Monthly bills include WiFi (about $70 per month) and energy (varies from $60 in the summer to $200 in the winter)

THE SPACE

Backyard:
- One of the biggest backyards you'll see in Jersey City (has grill, cornhole, seating for 14, and current occupant maintains the yard and grows produce and flowers in summer
Spacious furnished bedroom:
- as is, entire desk setup, queen bed, nightstands on both sides of bed, reading chair, shelving unit (currently used as bookshelf), TV, average sized closet
Occupant's bedroom:
- Queen size bed
- Small desk setup
- Full bathroom en suite
- Direct access to the private backyard
Living Area
- Mounted TV with Hulu, netflix, and most likely HBO and some other streaming in the coming months (no cable)
- Washer and dryer
- Entryway closet
- Miscellaneous seating for up to 5 or 6, with dining chairs you can slide over if more seating is needed
- New record player with a growing collection of records
Kitchen/cooking area
- Dining table with seating for 4
- 5 burner gas stove, regular-sized oven, microwave above burners
- Other features: kitchen has a large collection of high-end Le Creuset, a coffee maker, misc. tableware, various kitchen tools, a large fruit bowl kept filled, food processor, custom chef's knives, etc. I love to cook, so just ask, and it's likely here!
- Stainless steel fridge
- Stainless steel dishwasher
- Counterspace with two bar seats
Guest bathroom
- Full bath with shower, sink, storage beneath sink, medicine cabinet
- As is, stocked with Khiel's and Le Labo products, hair dryer, door hook to hang up wet towels, etc.

It's hard to understate how great this apartment is. And given my interest in interior design and a desire to make the space more of an actual home, a lot of investments have been made to decorate and furnish throughout (although you can of course redo your bedroom as you wish).

A few cons:
- Poor insulation means the really bad winter days make the space pretty cold (we do have several portable heaters that help)
- Likewise, there are no air conditioners, but standing fans help tremendously and you can always get an AC unit for your bedroom or discuss splitting one for the living area
- Your bathroom is located in the living area, which can make it seem like you have no privacy. This is not the case! I do everything I can to ensure privacy, guests can use the bathroom in my bedroom, and it is still your own full private bath.
- If you commute to NYC often for work or otherwise, this is not in the most ideal location. A 15-20 minute walk will get you to the Journal Square PATH, and I am pretty sure there is a bus at the end of the street that goes to Times Square. A night out at all the good bars/nightlife is usually a cheap Uber ride unless you really enjoy walking.

I'm happy to answer any questions and look forward to finding a good fit!
