Description

There is a mid-size bedroom available, one of three rooms in the apartment. The bedroom has closet space, a window, and a heater, and is approximately 125 square feet. The apartment is spacious, including a living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry nook, and one shared bathroom. It is located on the second floor of the building, with no elevator access. The apartment includes a dishwasher, full stove and oven, bathtub, and a laundry washing machine (we are working on a new dryer unit).
We are located in the Jersey City Heights section, across the street from a beautiful park with a view across the Hudson. There is a coffee shop downstairs, and this street has all the stores one might need urgently. There is a bus stop to Hoboken, downtown Jersey City, Union City, and New York City across the street. Street parking is available, and tenants with a car must have an annual parking sticker. The neighborhood is family-centered, suited to young working professionals, good to many dog-owners, and diverse.

The price is $900 monthly, due a day before the first. This includes the cost of water. Gas and electric is divided evenly amongst tenants, and that tends to be nominal. We have a wifi service that is approximately $20 monthly. Additionally, we contribute toward communal household supplies (things like paper towels, dish soap, cleaning products, etc.) This involves having monthly household meetings to decide on supplies needed, placing the order, and dividing costs. We tend to order in bulk to have things around for a lengthy period. You must be prepared to be involved in this process, as it is a vital part to our co-tenancy agreements.
As part of the move-in agreement, you must provide one month’s rent and a refundable (with conditions) security deposit equivalent to one month’s rent, totaling $1,800 for move-in. You will also be signing onto an annually renewed lease, and a co-tenant agreement that we devise together.

About us: Justin and X are our names. Justin uses he/him pronouns, and X uses they/them pronouns. We met in 2021, when Justin moved into the apartment, and it’s been awesome since. X has been a long-time tenant.
We are in our 30s. We are looking for a roommate in their 30s.
X does community/social work and film, and Justin is in education, literature, and activism. We want someone who is working a stable, full-time position.
We are both artists. You do not have to be.
We are both queer people. You do not have to be.
We are sticklers for cleanliness. You have to be, too. We operate on a weekly cleaning rotation system which ensures the place stays clean and everyone is involved.
We are pet-friendly, specifically to cats. We will no longer have a cat come April, so it’s very cool if you do and we will love it endlessly.

We are looking for someone who will commit to a one year lease, if not longer. We value stability here, and want someone who is genuinely looking to stick around. We want a roommate who will appreciate a balance of casual exchange, meaningful investment in the apartment, common sense respect of boundaries, thoughtfulness in co-tenancy, and respect in communication. A suitable roommate will have ample experience in living with others, upholding integrity with cleanliness, and will want to participate in developing the apartment and practicing house maintenance. We love to cook here, invite guests over, decorate, chatter, read, etc. and want a third roommate who will want to get to know us, and extend themselves for us to get to know, too.

Send a message if you are interested, and we can schedule a call.
