Seeking 1 (one) roommate for a large-ish 3BR/2BA apartment in a prime location within Crown Heights. Room is officially available for one-year lease from August 1, 2023 through July 31, 2024. There is an option to move in up to 1 month early (July) contingent on lease signing.
I am (M, 33) a very tidy, relatively quiet, and considerate roommate with a rather predictable schedule, and who currently works from home full-time. However, I’m looking to subscribe to a co-working space to expand time spent outside the apartment. Moved to the city August ‘22 and committed for the long-haul. Current roommate (W, 31) is moving out early (student). I have primarily lived with women and queer folk the past six years.
The apartment is approx. 925 square feet, south-facing (bright & warm), quiet, and decently-appointed. Bedroom for rent is 8x16 with a closet and comes with a private half-bath (second bathroom includes shower, which is shared). The third (smallest) bedroom is a shared office and a guest room, as needed. Three other closets are shared (linens, coats, storage, etc.). Based on my furnishings the space is about 70% furnished including a fully-stocked kitchen, office setup, and seating–all of which I am open to sharing. I like to wholesale general supplies to save money–I’ve never run out of dish soap.
Building has a private roof deck. Central A/C. Coin-operated W/D in basement (meh); bike storage in basement; virtual doorman. Current neighbors (upstairs, downstairs) are very quiet, and respectful.
Location is excellent IMO: 10 min walk to the 2/3, 4/5, A/C, or S. 3 minute walk to the B43, B44, B65. 2 minute walk to grocery stores, pharmacy, etc. 15 minutes to the Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Museum, and Prospect Park.
Desired roommate qualities: respectful of a shared space and belongings, a direct communicator, and socially active. Homebodies are cool, but we all know how constantly remaining inside can place strain on a living arrangement. Occasional social gatherings in the space are appreciated (did somebody say “board game nights?”) as are quiet evenings. One caveat: my roommate convinced me to not have a TV in common space, and I’ve grown to deeply appreciate that; there is one, but it comes out for movie nights, occasions. I kinda want to stick with that.
Rent is assessed based on BR footage, bathroom, and shared space. Utilities are split 50/50; I can provide average annual costs for each: gas, electric, internet.
Landlord requires a credit check, proof of employment, and security deposit. No broker fee. Landlords are ‘hands off’ and maintenance is generally responsive, with major issues addressed quickly.
I require personal references. You can run a background check on me if you’d like, and will provide personal references at your request.
