About the apartment:
Large apartment with loads of natural light taking over the entire third floor of a 3-story walk-up in the heart of West Crown Heights. Eat-in kitchen with all of the kitchen supplies you could possibly need, cozy nature-inspired living room with a large TV; a dining room which has been converted into an office and workout area. The bathroom has a heated bidet installed, a multi-function shower head with decent water pressure and a tub. This is also a Smart Home! Meaning, the common spaces have lights that are voice-activated using an Alexa Echo Dot. We also have incredibly fast internet with a Mesh system, so the internet access is accessed well throughout the apartment.

About the Building:
The first floor is a daycare center which is just now getting back into operation since Covid. The second floor is the mother of the owner of the building who is the most delightful 89 year-old woman you’ll ever meet and has treated all of us like her own children (in a good way!). Next door is a great dive bar -Branch Ofc - and the bartenders treat us like family. We also compost and recycle in this building.

About the neighborhood:
We sit on the edge of Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and PLG. Just one block away from the nearest laundromat, pharmacy and fruit/veg bodega and a 5-minute walk to the nearest grocery stores, banks and the post office. We are an 8-minute walk away from Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and the Brooklyn Library. Just one block south of Eastern Parkway and one block west of Nostrand Ave and 2 blocks east of Franklin Ave; meaning we are just minutes walking distance away from an amazing array of restaurants, bars, venues and cafes - and right off the 2345 trains and several major bus lines, making commuting a breeze.

About the Bedroom:

$900/month + utilities and internet.

Medium-sized square bedroom at the back of the apartment with two windows facing the backyard and access to the fire escape. Dimensions: 9’8.5”x10’6”

The room comes furnished with:
- full-sized bed + mattress

- Block shelves (with 6 block drawers)
- Desk with desk lamp
- Nightstand with noise machine
- 2 power strips
- Clothing rack
- Rug
- Blackout curtains and sheer curtains
- Large analog clock
- Window A/C for the room during the spring and summer months.
- There is a closet in the hall that we share that you can store some extra stuff in.

About me:
I have the room that shares a wall with the room that's available, which are both near the bathroom and kitchen.
I'm a 37 year-old grad student who got this apartment in July 2021 years ago after moving back here from Los Angeles. I am in graduate school part-time finishing up my capstone and final semester and looking for jobs. I am looking for a short-to-medium-term, quiet subletter to fill that room. I'm applying for jobs outside of NYC as well as in NYC so I unfortunately cannot guarantee a long-term stay.
I grew up in Syracuse, went to undergrad at UArts in Philly and lived in LA for 11 years - and three of those I was bi-coastal to Brooklyn. Prior to grad school I was working as a photographer, cinematographer, doc filmmaker and journalist. When I'm not in class I'm working really hard at home on coursework so this is a big reason we have office hours.
When not busy with school I like to do yoga, run, meditate and haven’t eaten meat in 23 years. For fun I like to go to comedy shows, cook a nice meal and watch a movie, connect with my Burning Man community, go to panels, the theater, movies and museums. Also I'm bisexual/queer, if that at all matters to you.

About Johnny:
Johnny has the small bedroom on the opposite end of the apartment and has been living here since February 1st 2022. He's a 27 y/o actor and also works at a vegan restaurant in Union Square. As a roommate he's very considerate, reliable, quiet, clean, a self-proclaimed introvert and when he does come out of his shell, he's a pretty funny guy. Occasionally he plays guitar or ukulele and it's nice to listen to. He's also a big Marvel/superhero nerd and likes playing video games in his room.

Seeking in a roommate:
A working professional in their late 20s or 30s who has experience living with roommates, who is city-smart and who is generally pretty quiet and responsible. No pets and no couples (no exceptions). Must be very clean (at least in the common spaces) and open to office/quiet hours and basic house rules. Looking for someone who is very communicative, who understands the basic tenets of cohabitating with other adults and is open to feedback. My non-negotiables are (and I can’t believe I even have to say this but my experience thus far tells me I do): locking the doors, paying rent and bills on time and respecting each other’s stuff.
We would prefer to live with someone who is mostly smoke and drug-free (once-in-a-blue-moon users don't count) and drinks moderately. Open to people who smoke weed if they are staying here short-term.

Costs:
Rent (heat and water is included). Utilities if renting monthly (electric and gas; cost varies month-to-month depending on usage). Internet (we have 4K Optimum internet). I recommend budgeting $75 total for utilities and internet to be on the safe side.
Shared household items are included in the rent.

Requirements:
Proof of income (either pay stubs, bank statements or student loan offer letter).
To move in you must pay the first month’s or week's rent plus a security deposit equal to the cost of rent and sign a sublease agreement with me.

To be considered, please schedule an appointment by DMing me and I will send you a Calendly link.
