Description

I am the current tenant of this 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom corner unit in a doorman building just one block from Central Park and the B&C trains at 110th St./Cathedral Parkway. The unit will be shared with me, the current tenant.

The apartment is large and has a living room, dining area, and chef’s kitchen with a Viking stove and Miele dishwasher. There is a full wall of windows facing West over Manhattan Avenue and Cathedral Parkway, with additional windows in the living room and bedroom. The apartment is on the first (not ground) floor and all windows have doubled-panes that significantly reduce outside noise and cold. The bathroom has strong water pressure and hot water. The internet is fast, even with two people working from home. There is an abundance of storage space throughout the apartment including two storage closets and a wall of cabinets. The kitchen is fully stocked and common spaces are furnished, though there is plenty of space for additional or different furniture. Truly, there are very few apartments with this amount of space and quality of appliances for this price.

The bedroom for rent is sunny and large. There is a large window, also doubled to reduce noise from the street below. There is a standard closet with built in shelving and more than enough space for a full or queen bed with an additional chair, dresser, bookshelf, etc. There is a built in air conditioner unit with a glass cover for when it is not in use.

The building has a large laundry room, 24-hour doorman, a mail room with refrigerator, a private garden, a bike storage room, and large party space. There are two elevators and a trash chute on each floor. Neighbors are generally quiet and friendly, the staff is helpful and prompt.

The unit is a condo, owned by a couple who moved to Seattle. They are extremely kind and responsive and, when rents were rapidly rising across the city, they only raised ours enough to cover a rise in building fees. Anyone is welcome to contact me about this listing; I have no problem leasing to anyone who can pay the rent and come to an agreement on co-living.

I have to reiterate what everyone who has visited the apartment has said: it is a steal. It is a great place to live near many trains and the best section of Central Park. You can easily get to midtown within 20 minutes and downtown or upper Manhattan within 40. The neighborhood has tons of new and established restaurants and bars. The apartment is far enough from Columbia to avoid feeling like student housing, but close enough to Broadway to feel lively. It is a great place to live and it will be perfect for someone looking for a solid apartment at a fair price in Manhattan.

I currently work at an education nonprofit and I am a musician who is often out to play music. I have historically split shared expenses and have a ‘for the apartment’ mentality. This has worked well for me and previous tenants, but I am flexible with whatever arrangement works best with a new roommate. I maintain a busy schedule after work and am often out of the apartment.

I am not looking for any particular personality, just a reliable and respectful roommate. Someone with shared interests in music, cooking, cocktails, art, and history would be excellent. Someone with different interests works just as well.

The housing board meets on the 15th of the month to review new lease applications. If you are interested in an May 1 start date, the deadline for all paperwork and fees is April 15th. I am happy to discuss those requirements in more detail with you.
