Open bedroom in 2-bedroom Sunnyside apartment, located in the Sunnyside Gardens district, a historic planned community modeled after the English garden city movement in the 1920s. Surrounded by lush greenery, walkways and open common spaces between blocks. Apartment is rented from couple who owns the house and lives downstairs. About an 8-minute walk to the 46th Street 7 stop, and less than a block away from bars and restaurants on Skillman Ave. Farmers' market 3 blocks away on Saturday mornings. Convenient to Williamsburg and Greenpoint by car or B24 bus. Shared with a roommate who has lived here for 4 years (in the neighborhood for 5) and loves Sunnyside and the space. Junior roommate is a 10-year-old dilute tortoiseshell cat named Tess.

About me: I'm a 32-year-old white cis woman and a writer, curator, and art historian working on a PhD. I'm also involved in DSA-related community organizing (particularly a mutual aid network that cropped up in response to Covid). Lefties particularly welcome, antiracist & LGBTQ+ friendly. 30s and full-time job preferred. I care a lot about the apartment and would like to live with somebody who wants to help maintain it, either thru a shared cleaning schedule or hiring a cleaning service. I cook and make cocktails frequently and garden on the balcony. I'm a true Taurus (if you care). Not a hugely social person at home; prefer a roommate who's relatively low-key. Living area is fully furnished (see pics), though the couch and maybe the chair will be replaced when you move in.
