Description of private room: Two rooms large enough for a double bed with other furniture and adjoining office space or private living room on 2nd floor of spacious house. Tall windows overlooking a wooded lot. Hard wood floors, high ceilings.

Shared space: spacious open kitchen with dishwasher & washer / dryer, bathroom shared mainly with one other person (there's another bathroom downstairs), large sitting room, big front porch and yard. Can be furnished (additional $50/mo) or unfurnished. Includes utilities, Fios high speed WiFi. Located at the end of a cul-de-sac next to a wooded lot, it's a quiet nook in the big city -- yet, the space is still only a 10 minute walk to the free SI ferry, a 30 minute trip to all that Downtown Manhattan has to offer.

The Property: Includes use of a large beautiful wooden porch and secure bike locker. The yard includes a patio and a maintained garden, a mix of herbs, flowers, shrubs, and evergreens. It's shaped like a triangle with woods on one side; bamboo, an oak and maple on another side, and the street in front. There is a Japanese maple in the front yard and a 20 ft rose bush at the front entrance of the house.

The Neighborhood: The house is a block or so behind Curtis High School at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac next to a wooded lot. It's a safe, quiet, diverse neighborhood, full of working professionals and families. Grocery stores, restaurants, a farmers market, public library, and other services are walkable. There is a running path 5 minutes away by foot that goes along the water to the ferry. There are additional bars and restaurants at the beautifully redone new ferry terminal with brand new outdoor mall with a Shake Shack, ice cream parlor and other fun shops. Since the hub of public transport on SI is also the Ferry terminal, navigation of the island without a car is easy if you choose.

Parking: Street parking is plentiful and free, there is no alt./side street cleaning here.

Pets: We welcome pets on a case by case basis. There will currently be no pets in your portion of the house. I have a friendly puggle that you will sometimes see in the yard (my husband and my space is separate from the rest of the house).

About us: we are a youngish longtime couple that are creatives that also work day jobs. We were back and forth between LA and NYC until Covid but have shifted our focus to full time at the house so we'll be actively making lots of improvements in the years ahead. We have had the house since 2004, it's from the 1890s, and have welcomed all types of people over the years in the rooms upstairs. We look forward to meeting you!
